Acai Roots actively supports organizations like Rhythm of Hope, which gives inner city Brazilian youth a fighting chance; and Praia Para Todos, dedicated to giving disabled people the opportunity to experience the joy of the beach.
Both organizations promote the development of healthy lifestyles, which is in keeping with the Acai Roots mission.
“It is impossible for anyone growing up in Rio to ignore the fact that while we may thrive, so many others suffer so needlessly,” said Acai Roots CEO Igor de Freitas Pereira.
“We at Acai Roots have always been thankful for what we have access to: security, good food and a good education, even basic sanitation. None of these advantages can be assumed to be available to residents in the slums of Brazil. Some of our family members have been working for decades in some of the largest favelas in Rio to help educate children and provide them with a healthier perspective on life.”
That sense of gratitude, and the commitment to helping others create healthier, more rewarding lifestyles, is a major part of the Acai Roots story.
