It’s easy for companies to claim they care about issues like sustainability and social equality. At Acai Roots, it’s at the heart of everything we do. Our triple bottom line philosophy is rooted in our passion to protect the Amazon and the people who live there.
It would be pretty embarrassing to order an açaí bowl at your favorite restaurant and not pronounce it correctly. Don’t worry, that’s why we’re here! The correct way to pronounce açaí is “ä-,sä-’ē , -sī-’ē”. If you’re not a Merrian Webster scholar and are still confused you can also just try saying “ah-sah-EE”. It’s important to know that there is not “k” sound in the pronunciation. We hope this gives you the confidence to order an acai bowl in public!
Great question! Açaí is a berry that grows on an açaí palm tree. The açaí berry is exclusively found in the Amazon Rain Forest in Brazil. Beyond the humid subtropical climate, the Amazon is known to have the richest soil on earth which allows the açaí palm to thrive. The açaí berry itself is 95% seed which is not edible. The skin around the açaí berry is what you’re eating when you eat açaí. Preserving the nutrients upon harvest and safely transporting the açaí berry is naturally dark purple, like a grape or blueberry. A natural scoop of açaí sorbet or açaí puree should ONLY be dark purple. If you purchase an açaí product that is a vibrant pink or red, chances are it’s filled with artificial juices. To truly enjoy the açaí berry as nature intended, we recommend buying from us, or ask your local restaurant if their açaí is natural.
Chances are you’ve heard that açaí is a superfood. Can something this delicious really be healthy? The answer is YES! The açaí berry is most famous for its high antioxidant count, having 500% more antioxidants than a blueberry. Antioxidant levels are measured by ORAC values. ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) measure the antioxidant power in your food. We show the ORAC values on our food as proof that we will never cut corners or cost by lessening the health benefits of our açaí with juices or fillers. There are countless other benefits to açaí which include:
Omegas
Fatty acids
Phytosterols
Dietary fibers
Calcium and vitamins A, E, and B6
Protein
Beyond Açaí Roots™ Product Line we have an entire line of super foods that you can use as toppings for your açaí bowls such as hemp seeds, chia seeds, goji berries, and cacao nibs.
When we say our mission is your health we mean it!
